System Director of Pharmacy

Mary-Haston Vest, PharmD, MS, BCPS is a System Director of Pharmacy with University of North Carolina (UNC) Health, and an Associate Professor of Clinical Education at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. In this role, she leads the Medication Management and Optimization, Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes, and Strategic Sourcing and Shortages Management teams, which provide support across the 17 hospital health-system. Her professional interests include improving patient care through high quality research, to demonstrate the value of pharmacy services while furthering innovation within the profession. She has been on the teams recognized with two American Society of Health System Pharmacy (ASHP) Best Practices Award. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, and completed a PGY1 and PGY2 residency program in Health-System Pharmacy Administration at UNC Medical Center and M.S. from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Mary-Haston is actively involved in state and national professional pharmacy organizations, currently serving on the ASHP Commission on Affiliate Relations and Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Educational Steering Committee, and as Immediate Past Chair of the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) Health-System Practice Academy. She recently served as Chair of the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Advisory Group on Quality, Value and Compliance.
